​Derby - Salary £45k to £50k dependant on experience (hybrid)

Our client is a prominent player in the rail industry.

They specialise in the movement of rolling stock for rolling stock companies and train operating companies as well as locomotive spot hire services and the operation of charter trains.

They are currently recruiting a Supply Chain Manager based in Derby (hybrid).

They have received significant investment into the business in recent years and have stated its ambitions to procure new-built locomotives and to operate its own high speed freight services, challenging the traditional model.

This Supply Chain Manager role therefore presents an outstanding opportunity for the right candidate.

You will be responsible for the management of the supply chain as this role forms the key contact for suppliers and partners regarding warranties and spares and tooling, whilst forming the focal point for customers and contracts.

The Supply Chain Manager will also be responsible for the management and maintenance of all business systems and administrative processes and will play a pivotal role in providing management support throughout the business.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Purchasing, procurement, supplier approval & contract maintenance

  • Asset management, management of warranty claims & procurement process

  • Customer/Supplier main contact

  • Manage spares, tooling and other logistics procedures

  • Ensure depot logistics requirements and minimum order items are in place and maintained

  • Handle loco data and OTMR (One Touch Make Ready) processes

  • Support organisation with administrative processes and procedures

  • Produce press releases and foster a positive working relationship with rail media.

What we’re looking for:

  • Engineering background with proven skills in procurement would be an advantage

  • Be a holder or working toward Chartered Institute of Logistics membership (ideal)

  • Detailed understanding of contracts and contract management

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with stakeholders at all levels.
