What does a Vehicle Technician do?
A Vehicle Technician inspects and repairs vehicles so they run safely, efficiently and reliably. Vehicle Technicians can work with different vehicles, such as cars, lorries, vans, buses and motorcycles. They work with a variety of vehicle components including engines, brakes, air-conditioning, suspension, transmission, security and sound systems. A good Vehicle Technician supports customers and makes them feel valued. They also perform high-quality work at all times, so customers can feel confident trusting them with their vehicles. Holmewoodis a village in theNorth East Derbyshiredistrict ofDerbyshire, England. Historically acoal miningvillage, it has close links to the villages ofHeath,North WingfieldandTemple Normanton. It is in thecivil parishof Heath and Holmewood.
The village of Holmewood was formed as a residence by The Williamthorpe Colliery Company from 1905 until 1970, when it closed due to the high cost of deep seam mining. The colliery was the main employer of the village and upon its closure, caused much unemployment within the area. As a consequence of theMargaret ThatcherGovernment in the late 1980s, plans were put in place to construct two largeindustrial estatesto limit the high unemployment levels within the ex-colliery communities in the North Derbyshire Area. This industrial estate has now expanded to cover a much larger area and is known as the 'Holmewood Enterprise Zone'.[1]Due toEUGovernment incentives, the site attracts high levels of investment from national-level companies.[citation needed]
There is a countryside park on the site, which is known as theFive Pits Trail, which links the five villages around Holmewood. The area contains several ponds that, once heavily polluted, are now havens for wildlife and are popular with anglers and birdwatchers.[citation needed]
The village has many small shops, aWorking men's club, churches and a public library.[2]The local football team is Holmewood Park Rangers.[citation needed]
