Recruiting veterans to fill your skills gap - BBC Lincs

Posted on 17 November 2021

RecruitME’s very own Howard Rudder has been interviewed by BBC Lincolnshire this week to discuss recruiting veterans and how they can help fill the skills gap in many sectors.

He was joined by several veterans from one of our key clients who have come straight out of the Army, Royal Navy and RAF to join them.

In a round table conversation with a serious amount of banter and some decent biscuits, the BBC interviewer discussed with us what the transition from military life to civvy street was like, how RecruitME helped them on that journey and the enormous number of transferable skills veterans bring to a company.

In the interview, which was broadcast on the local news and in a special feature, Howard said that organisations should seriously consider recruiting service leavers and veterans as they are able to get up to speed quickly, learn at a fast rate and integrate quickly into new organisations. They are also fantastic in customer-facing roles with great people skills and give great loyalty and dedication to where they work.

So far with have placed over a dozen veterans from all three services into this cherished client who really get the benefits of hiring veterans.

Howard Rudder - "My client was looking into recruiting ex-forces candidates and RecruitME came highly recommended to them by another business. Having now worked with them for several months and spent time with their senior managers and site visits to all their locations, it’s clear that all the veterans and recent service leaves have integrated well in to the senior and trainee roles they have started in. Feedback has been exceptional across the board from my client and from their clients. It is great to see our candidates already becoming influential with the business, adding enormous value, and using their raft of transferrable skills to make a real difference. Organisations looking to broaden their skills base, diversify their teams and onboard some great talent, then you should consider recruiting service leavers and veterans".
