High Voltage (HV) Training Instructor
A High Voltage (HV) Training Instructor is a professional who specializes in teaching individuals how to safely work with and understand high voltage electrical systems. This role is critical in industries where electrical systems operate at high voltages, such as power generation, transmission, railways, electric vehicles, and industrial facilities.
⚡ Key Responsibilities
1. Deliver HV Training Courses
Teach both theoretical and practical aspects of HV systems.
Cover topics like electrical safety, HV switching operations, fault finding, and system design.
2. Develop Training Programs
Create and update course materials, manuals, and assessments.
Align training with industry standards and regulations (e.g., BS EN, IEC, or OSHA standards).
3. Certify Competency
Assess trainees through written exams and hands-on evaluations.
Issue certifications for HV authorization levels (e.g., HV Authorised Person, Senior Authorised Person).
4. Promote Safety Culture
Emphasize safe working practices, risk assessments, and emergency procedures.
Train on PPE use, isolation procedures, and permit-to-work systems.
5. Stay Current with Industry Trends
Keep up with changes in HV technology, such as smart grids, renewable integration, and EV infrastructure.
Attend industry events and maintain professional certifications.
🧠 Skills & Qualifications
Extensive HV experience, often as an engineer or technician.
Teaching or training certification (e.g., Level 3 Award in Education and Training in the UK).
Strong knowledge of electrical safety regulations and HV equipment (e.g., switchgear, transformers, protection relays).
Excellent communication and instructional skills.
