Head of Energy and Sustainability

About the Organisation: 

One of the UK's oldest and leading public schools.

Monday-Friday 35 hours per week.

We are looking for a Head of Energy and Sustainability to define and lead our client’s overall sustainability strategy and process towards their 2050 net zero commitment.

You will help define the practices goals on carbon reduction and environmentally responsible design methods whilst minimising the impact of projects.

The Head of Energy and Sustainability will partner with my client’s energy procurement partners to ensure utility costs are optimised and the organisation’s environmental agenda is central to supply chain arrangements.

You will also lead on energy projects to manage and monitor energy usage across the organisation, in order to implement energy reduction strategies and sustainability initiatives.

This Head of Energy and Sustainability will work closely with the Senior Management and Project Teams for this highly prestigious organisation that covers a large rural site with a mix of stunning historical and modern buildings, all set in stunning grounds.

To be considered for this role you will require strong technical expertise with a strong working knowledge of utility markets and procurement strategies.  

This should be supported by relevant technical qualifications in Energy Management and Sustainability (i.e. Certified Energy Manager).  

Equally important will be your strong stakeholder management skills, commercial acumen, and financial expertise in terms of budgeting, forecasting and cost control.  

What you will be doing day-to-day: 

·         To develop, review and monitor the Organisation’s Energy and Environmental policies and management systems

·         The role will be responsible for building relationships with internal and external stakeholders ensuring energy and environmental sustainability strategies, policy and plans are integrated effectively across the organisations

·         To ensure that the Organisation complies with all current relevant legislation and best practice

·         To lead on the implementation of an Environmental & Sustainability Working Group, engaging with all internal School stakeholders and external stakeholders i.e. local authorities
