As Health and Safety Manager, you will be responsible for implementing and overseeing comprehensive health and safety policies, advising managers and staff on regulations and best practices.
As well as updating and facilitating incident reporting, investigations and preventive measures, mentoring team managers to enhance their awareness and skills, analysing incident data, near misses and identifying trends for improvement.
Monitoring plant, protective equipment (PPE) and control measures and overseeing risk assessment (RAMs) completion and implementation.
Responsibilities for the Health and Safety Manager:
Champion the implementation and promotion of comprehensive Health and Safety policies and procedures, ensuring adherence to the highest safety standards.
Oversee the Safety, Health & Environmental (SHE) plan, actively supporting the execution of all associated initiatives.
Orchestrate Health and Safety training courses, inductions, and meetings, meticulously preparing materials and agendas.
Spearhead the reporting and investigation of all Health and Safety incidents, conducting thorough root cause analyses and formulating actionable recommendations to prevent recurrence and enhance safety protocols.
Mentor and coach managers, empowering them to refine their investigation skills and effectively share lessons learned across departments.
Generate statistical summaries of incidents, astutely identifying significant trends and occurrences, and presenting them to management for informed decision-making.
Facilitate the completion of risk assessments, ensuring accurate hazard identification and mitigation strategies.
Qualifications and Attributes for the Health and Safety Manager:
NEBOSH qualification
Thorough understanding of Health & Safety legislation, ideally within construction, agricultural or forestry
CSCS card (advantageous)
Be able to demonstrate expertise in stakeholder and external regulatory bodies interactions
Proficiency in crafting RAMs, SSOWs, and SOPs
Bring a wealth of experience in accident/incident investigations
Maintain a meticulous attention to detail and accuracy
