About the Role
Our client is seeking a Temporary HSE Manager to join their Derby-based team on a 4-month contract. This is a key role supporting the Head of Safety in maintaining compliance with health, safety, and environmental legislation, risk management, reporting, and driving continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
Support the Head of Safety in delivering HSE objectives across the organisation
Maintain and regularly update the Register of Legislation to ensure legal compliance
Manage statutory reporting of accidents and incidents to authorities such as SMIS, RAIB, and ORR
Assist in compiling internal and external reports and analysing accident and incident data
Maintain the company’s business risk profile, offering recommendations to reduce operational risks
Monitor and assess legislative updates, industry standards, and best practices for their impact on operations
Ensure the company’s Safety Certificate and supporting documentation remain compliant and up to date
Support or lead investigations into safety incidents, ensuring a thorough and effective process
Participate in internal and external audit programmes
About You:
Educated to GCSE level (or equivalent) in Mathematics, English, and Science
NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent health and safety qualification)
Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to interpret data and identify trends
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working with regulators and senior stakeholders
Experience working in a safety-critical environment, ideally within the rail or transport sectors
Confident in contributing to internal audits, compliance processes, and continuous improvement initiatives
