Operations Manager – Domestic Services

About the Organisation: 

One of the UK's oldest and leading public schools. 

We are currently recruiting for a Domestic Services Operations Manager for a prestigious organisation covering a large site with a mix of stunning historical and modern buildings, all set in stunning grounds.

This key role offers the opportunity to manage and lead two Assistant Managers and a 120 strong cleaning team responsible for of 15 boarding houses and 25 office buildings.

You will be responsible for operating and overseeing the Cleaning Services and that ensure compliance with legislation, policies and procedures are maintained and developed.

As the Domestic Services Operations Manager you will need to have had proven experience working in an operational management role in a facilities management department within the hospitality, care, education, or similar industry – as well as experience in building and leading high performing teams with a safety-first ethos.

What you will be doing day-to-day: 

·         Leading a large and complex education cleaning services and laundry department.

·         Ensuring a safe workplace, supported by robust training including in COSHH.

·         Proactively building and sustaining excellent relationships with staff and key stakeholders.

·         Managing EDI and HR challenges and resolution management (with support from the HR team).

·         Manage and resolve attendance gaps, following the escalation process to ensure service continuity.

·         Supervising monthly payroll data, ensuring employees are paid right first time.

·         Develop, implement, and regularly review operational policies and procedures.

·         Ensuring financial budgets and targets are consistently achieved, and input to future budgeting. 

Who we are looking for:  

·         An excellent communicator with the ability to confidently engage with stakeholders

·         Possesses excellent IT skills with the ability to produce presentations, analyse and report on data.

·         Demonstrates exceptional organisational and planning skills

·         Experience of finance and budgetary control.

·         Proven record of being responsive and innovative

·         Self-motivated with the ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines 

The Operations Manager will need to be comfortable liaising at all levels of the organisation and will possess a positive, can-do, and forward-looking attitude, as well as a sense of humour.
