As they continue expanding across the East Midlands, they’re now seeking a Quantity Surveyor (Planned Works) to take ownership of commercial success across a range of secured contracts.

About the Quantity Surveyor (Planned Works) Role

The Quantity Surveyor (Planned Works) will manage commercial performance from pre-contract through to final accounts.

You’ll ensure robust procurement, accurate reporting, and full cost control across a busy and varied programme of works.

Working closely with operational and delivery teams, you’ll play a key role in securing margin, managing supply chains, and helping ensure each project runs on time, on budget, and on spec.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare cost estimates, tender submissions, and pricing using NHF schedules

  • Track project costs, monitor progress against CVRs, and produce monthly financial reports

  • Raise purchase orders, handle invoicing, and oversee subcontract payments

  • Liaise with clients and site teams to ensure full commercial alignment

  • Monitor and manage budgets, margin performance, and financial forecasting

  • Ensure variations, extras, and changes are recorded and agreed

  • Work with direct labour and subcontractors to control output and cost

  • Oversee the financial lifecycle of contracts from setup through to collection

  • Maintain up-to-date records for audits, reporting, and compliance

What We're Looking For

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a Quantity Surveyor (Planned Works) role or similar

  • Strong background in internal planned works delivery within the housing or public sector

  • Experience managing direct labour and subcontractor relationships

  • Sound commercial understanding of contract structures and risk management

  • Excellent knowledge of CVRs, cost control, and performance reporting

  • SMSTS, NVQ Level 2 (trade-related), and full UK driving licence

  • Strong IT and Microsoft Excel skills; experience with construction software a bonus

  • Proactive mindset with clear communication and leadership ability
