We are working alongside a well-established fibre broadband telecoms company, who have been operating for 20 years, now bringing FTTP to rural areas of East Anglia and the East of England.
Having recently secured additional significant investment into their business, they’re expanding their reach and are currently recruiting Quantity Surveyors (Trainee/Graduate) in the Colchester area.
The principal role of the Quantity Surveyor (QS) is to manage the costs relating to engineering projects across all the CBL build projects and schemes being completed in the Build arena.
The role requires the QS to provide commercial support from birth of projects to project closure.
The Quantity Surveyors seek to minimise the costs of the project and enhance value for money whilst ensuring that the project meets all legal and quality assurance requirements and regulations.
You will be eligible to join a Future Leaders Programme and as a Junior Surveyor, be given clearly defined career and training pathways.

What you’ll be doing:
•Complete field site walks outs with Build Partners and internal Build teams to validate all claims and invoicing
•Work with Build Partners to quantify and validate all financial claims and invoicing
•First point of contact in QS cost management in support of the Area Build Managers and PMs
•Responsible for review cost estimates/cost plans identifying levels of estimating uncertainty to allow effective setting, monitoring, forecasting and control of financial limits for projects
•Review/approval or rejection of the contractor monthly Application for Payment
•Agree allowance/disallowance of the Compensation Events with Build Partners
•Prepare monthly commercial reports
•Agree final account assessment
•Update schedule cost data sets to achieve consistency, accuracy and alignment and to enable the capture and subsequent use of outturn data
•Complete cost and expenditure planning / benchmarking as required
•Support management of budget and spend profiles continually identifying ways to improve cost performance
•Carry out cost impact analysis of Change Requests
•Input into monthly Supplier Performance meetings and information
What we’re looking for:
•Degree qualified and has experience in the fibre or telecoms sector
•Ideally working towards MRICs or other commercial oriented professional accreditation
•Experience in NEC3/NEC4 or forms of construction contracts
•Experience in managing QS contractors on project
•Understanding and experience of commercial estimating and benchmarking
