The role
As a Trainee Enforcement Agent, you will work in a field-based role supporting local authorities and communities by helping residents and business owners bring unpaid council tax or business rates up to date.
You will make in-person visits, assess individual circumstances, manage a varied caseload and help secure payments or recover goods where required. Some situations may be sensitive or challenging, so you will need to use empathy, confidence, sound judgement and calm conflict resolution.
This is a role where no two days are the same. You will be trusted to represent the organisation professionally, work independently, follow legislation and maintain high standards at all times.
What you’ll be doing
Carrying out enforcement activity, including executing Liability Orders
Making in-person visits to residents and businesses
Assessing individual circumstances and securing payments or recovering goods where required
Managing a varied caseload, including high-priority cases
Using investigative skills to locate individuals and gather relevant information
Identifying non-compliance or evasion tactics and responding appropriately
Handling sensitive conversations, including with vulnerable people
Maintaining accurate records, managing payments and following legal and regulatory requirements
Planning and prioritising your workload effectively
Working flexibly, including early mornings, some evenings and occasional weekends
Travelling as required, with occasional overnight stays where necessary

Essential requirements
Full UK driving licence
At least 12 months’ driving experience
No more than 6 points on your licence
Able to pass Disclosure and Barring Service checks
Able to pass a County Court Judgment check
Flexible approach to working hours, including early mornings, some evenings and occasional weekends
