Principal Solicitor – East Midlands

Leicester – up to £46k (depending on experience) + exceptional benefits package

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Principal Solicitor for a leading public organisation in the East Midlands.

We’re looking for a qualified solicitor or barrister and a Fellow of The Chartered Institute of Legal Executives, who can demonstrate a solid legal career history.

What you’ll be doing

The successful candidate will provide legal advice to our client’s Management Team and Board on the whole range of legal matters at all stages of their decision making processes.

The Principal Solicitor will be responsible for the provision of legal support through an external provider and act as a ‘gateway’ of issues referred to an external provider for specialist advice.

We are looking for a legal professional who can provide legal input into corporate and strategic issues to enable our client to fulfil its lawful obligations and perform its functions in accordance with the law.

What we need from you in return.

Legal: You will need to be a qualified Solicitor of Barrister, post qualification experience of undertaking complex case work in a legal role across a range of functions and a track record as a legal adviser. Thorough understanding of the concepts underpinning all aspects of administrative and corporate law as it relates to local government.

Financial: Budget management experience of advising Senior Management / Board Members.

About You: Personal and professional credibility and a high level of probity and integrity. High level verbal skills including delivery of formal presentations in public settings and able to influence, persuade and negotiate. Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
