Shape the Future of Sustainable Construction

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an ambitious Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join a leading national property services organisation. You’ll be part of a professional, growing team delivering a wide range of building, maintenance, and retrofit projects across the Northern Home Counties region. This role is ideal for someone looking to develop their surveying career within a business that values teamwork, integrity, and continuous improvement.

The Role

As an Assistant Quantity Surveyor, you’ll support the commercial and technical management of multiple contracts — helping to ensure each project runs smoothly, efficiently, and to budget. Working closely with a Project Surveyor, you’ll gain hands-on experience across procurement, cost reporting, valuations, and subcontractor management, supporting the full project lifecycle from pre-start to final account.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the financial and commercial control of construction and property projects.

  • Prepare bills of quantities, schedules of rates, and contract documentation.

  • Support procurement and tender processes, managing subcontractor relationships and performance.

  • Monitor project costs, valuations, and forecasts to ensure profitability and accuracy.

  • Produce monthly reports and support senior colleagues in budget reviews.

  • Work collaboratively with operational teams to achieve programme, cost, and quality targets.

What We’re Looking For

  • HNC, HND, Degree, or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction, or a related field.

  • Experience working with bills of quantities, schedules of rates, and D&B contracts.

  • Strong numerical, analytical, and organisational skills.

  • Excellent communication and time-management abilities.

  • Confident user of Microsoft Excel and other commercial reporting tools.

  • Full UK driving licence.

Desirable:

  • Experience within construction, retrofit, or building fabric upgrades.

  • Knowledge of PAS 2035 and retrofit principles.

What’s in It for You

  • Competitive salary with clear career progression pathways.

  • Pension scheme and employee benefits package.

  • Ongoing training, mentoring, and professional development opportunities.

  • Work with a forward-thinking organisation committed to sustainability and quality delivery.
