About the Role – Commercial Manager (Rail Industry)
As Commercial Manager, you will take full ownership of leasing and commercial operations for the company’s flagship product – the Class 93, the UK’s first and most advanced tri-mode locomotive, offering diesel, electric, and battery power modes. This is your opportunity to drive business development, expand market share, and shape the commercial strategy for the nation’s most sustainable and efficient freight locomotive.
Key Responsibilities:
• Develop and execute the leasing strategy for Class 93 locomotives
• Lead end-to-end rail leasing operations – including enquiries, tenders, and contract negotiations
• Identify new business opportunities in rail freight, train operating companies, and rolling stock markets
• Build strong partnerships with clients, leasing customers, and industry stakeholders
• Represent the business at rail industry events, conferences, and trade shows
• Monitor the market for trends, competitor activity, and emerging opportunities
• Collaborate with internal teams to align marketing, technical, and leasing strategies
What You’ll Need:
• 5+ years’ experience in rail leasing, rail commercial management, or aerospace leasing
• Proven track record in securing new business and managing leasing contracts
• Strong knowledge of UK rail freight, rolling stock leasing, and tendering processes
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and negotiation skills
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and capable of analysing commercial data
• A proactive mindset with the confidence to make this role your own
