About the Client: Fast growing Private Equity backed fire, security and communications company.

Due to the company’s continued success and growth, they are recruiting an enthusiastic and dedicated Fire and Security Systems Designer to their head office team.

My client designs, installs and maintains smart, reliable and highly compliant fire protection, access control, security, intruder alert, CCTV and communications solutions.

The Fire and Security System Designer will work in a highly professional design team for my client’s customers, who include universities, estates, care homes, public spaces and the Armed Forces.

What will you be doing day to day:

  • Assisting in the running the Design Department and team of designers

  • Attend internal and external design meetings

  • Preparation of designs and quotations for Fire and Security systems

  • Ensuring designs fully comply with all applicable regulations and standards

  • Learning the processes, requirements, and responsibilities of managing a department

  • Preparation of designs and costing sheets

  • Ensuring designs fully comply with all applicable regulations and standards

Who we are looking for

  • You will be an accomplished designer within the security industry with at least 3 years’ experience of producing designs.

  • A working knowledge of Fire alarm (BS5839-1 & 6) and CCTV (BS50132-7) standards

  • Knowledge of fire and security systems

  • Excellent IT skills and a familiarity with Microsoft software

  • A keen interest in technology and providing innovative solutions

  • Extremely high attention to detail

Preferred but not essential:

  • Familiarity with AutoCAD LT software packages

  • A knowledge of PD6662, NCP104, NCP109, BS8243, BS60839-11-2, BS50173-2, Equality Act 2010, Building Regulations, CDM, Secure by Design, and relevant Codes of Practice

  • Experience of designing systems with high levels of integration

  • Relevant Fire alarm qualification recognised by an industry body (FIA)

  • Level 3 qualification in Electrical & Electronic Engineering or related subject
