Looking for a Maintenance Engineer role that goes beyond fixing machines?

This is your chance to join a business driving the UK’s energy efficiency revolution and they want someone who’s hands-on, switched on, and ready to make a real difference.

Preference will be given to ex-forces applicants who bring sharp problem-solving skills, discipline under pressure, and a mindset built for high performance.

About the Company

Operating one of the UK’s most advanced integrated sites in waste-to-energy, this business is committed to sustainability, efficiency, and innovation.

Through state-of-the-art recycling and renewable energy facilities, they’re turning food waste into power, packaging into reusable resources, and people into high-performing teams.

This isn’t just engineering. It’s about environmental impact, energy transformation, and mechanical excellence.

About the Maintenance Engineer

As a Maintenance Engineer, you’ll be the front line of plant efficiency and reliability.

Working 12-hour shifts on a 4-on, 4-off rotation (days and nights), you’ll tackle installations, upgrades, breakdowns, and preventive maintenance all within a highly regulated, safety-driven environment.

The Maintenance Engineer will work as part of a skilled team and report directly to site leadership, ensuring every asset is running at peak performance.

You’ll be working on a range of mechanical systems from conveyors and pumps to rotating equipment and bespoke processing machinery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out maintenance, fault finding, and repair work on mechanical systems

  • Complete all associated logs, job sheets, and risk assessments

  • Support the installation of new equipment and continuous improvement projects

  • Perform planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive tasks to minimise downtime

  • Ensure all work meets Health & Safety and regulatory standards

  • Contribute to the site’s growing safety culture by reporting near-misses and promoting best practices

  • Leave every workspace clean, safe, and operational after completing tasks

  • Take part in wider site improvement initiatives as required

What We're Looking For

  • C&G Level 3 (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering or a related field

  • Strong mechanical maintenance background – ideally in a process, plant, or manufacturing environment

  • Ex-forces applicants encouraged – Royal Engineers, REME, RAF Techs or similar highly suited

  • Ability to problem-solve under pressure and work independently or in a team

  • Strong knowledge of Health & Safety and risk-based maintenance

  • Willingness to work a rotating 4 on 4 off pattern, covering both day and night shifts

What’s in it for You?

  • Starting salary up to £50,000

  • Clear development path and long-term stability

  • Overtime and shift allowance available

  • Work with cutting-edge environmental and energy recovery systems

  • Workwear, tools, and safety equipment provided

  • Be part of a supportive team where safety, respect, and professionalism come first
