Wireman
An Electrician or a Wireman, installs and repairs electrical power systems in businesses, homes, factories and public spaces. Their main duties include planning the layout of electrical wiring, diagnosing electrical problems and conducting general electrical maintenance.Electrician duties and responsibilitiesElectricians need to be flexible in order to perform their job effectively. Their day-to-day duties and responsibilities include:Surveying sites where electrical systems are installedDrafting electrical installation plans and technical diagramsInstalling, maintaining, modifying and repairing all electrical systems in public spaces and buildingsEnsuring that electrical systems adhere to the national electrical safety standards and regulationsSupervising ongoing electrical system installations and providing technical expertise to installation teams where neededUsing blueprints, wiring diagrams and manufacturer’s installation manuals to complete projectsCompleting work orders and recording materials that are used on the jobIdentifying electrical problems and repairing themAdvising the company’s management when to replace aged electrical equipment to prevent hazardsConducting general electrical systems maintenance and troubleshooting electrical issues with testing equipment
