​What does an Electrical Specialist do?

Power systems engineers perform a wide range of tasks related to the planning, design, building, and operation of power systems of all types. They conduct power systems modeling and analysis, load flow analysis, and other studies of the systems to determine their performance and capacity. They may provide technical support services, such as assisting with implementing automation and digitalization systems and programs. They may also handle hardware and software programming and integration.

Power systems engineers typically have at least a bachelor’s degree in an engineering or technical field, although some roles do require a master’s degree. They must be experienced with systems modeling and analysis, and comfortable using related tools and programs. They may also need programming skills, and should have good project management capabilities.

What responsibilities are common for Electrical Specialist jobs?

Perform pricing on request, provide analysis and assist in the negotiations of structured transactions.

Propose management strategies for the existing portfolio.

Attend client meetings, industry conferences, and external training sessions.

Projects are typically a mixture of office-based design or system study activities coupled with onsite data collection, commissioning, and installation.

Develop relationships with key customers and work to become the trusted advisor for them in order to facilitate an effective partnership and drive incremental business.

Develop and maintain technical and commercial proficiency of PSE offers.

Develop pricing model to value various risks in renewable energy off-taking transactions.

Day-to-day execution of multiple M&A and project finance transactions across the North American infrastructure, transportation, power, renewables and utility sectors, working with different project teams simultaneously on all aspects of transactions.

Oversight and management of junior members of deal teams, including proactive live training of critical skills and checking of work product prepared by such junior team members.

Conduct and manage extensive quantitative and qualitative economic, industry, credit and company research and analysis.

Conduct and manage detailed financial modeling and valuation analysis focused on combined infrastructure discounted cash flow and project financing models, including modeling three-statement integrated financial models and associated valuation outputs/sensitivities.

Experience develop financial models and valuations, analyze financial statements and related data to assess historical financial performance and future outlook for client companies and prospects.

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, balancing different responsibilities and priorities.

What are the typical qualifications for Electrical Specialist jobs?

Bachelor's or Graduate's Degree in electrical engineering, computer science, or mechanical engineering or equivalent experience.

Experience with MATLAB, PLC, PSCAD, Python, and C software and systems.

Experience with PLS-CADD, DNP, PLC Programming, SOC, and SCADA software and systems.

Leadership skills and dedication to continuous improvement.

Familiarity with root cause analysis.

Prior experience in a consulting position.

Confidence when conducting analysis services.

Demonstrated ability to adapt to a variety of software tools and systems development.

Fluency in writing protocols.
