This is more than just a job — it’s a chance to take charge, shape outcomes, and lead a team of skilled fabricators and welders to deliver precision-built engineering solutions. If you’re a Fabrication Manager with a hands-on mindset, real leadership skills, and deep knowledge of steelwork or fabrication, this is where your expertise will make its mark.

This is a long-established, family-run engineering and fabrication business that’s been delivering precision-built steel and metalwork for decades. With around 50 employees and a busy workshop of 30+ tradespeople, this is a company where experience is respected, initiative is welcomed, and people genuinely take pride in what they build.

About the Role – Fabrication Manager

The Fabrication Manager will lead the day-to-day operations of a fast-paced, high-quality fabrication workshop. Responsible for managing workflow, maintaining standards, and getting the best out of a dedicated team, the successful candidate will be on the ground — not behind a desk. This is a role for someone who leads from the front, solves problems in real time, and thrives in a hands-on production environment.

You’ll oversee fabrication, welding, CNC and sheet metal work, ensuring jobs move efficiently from design through to delivery. Working closely with directors and senior managers, you’ll also have a say in driving improvements across quality, productivity, and health & safety.

Key Responsibilities of the Fabrication Manager

• Lead and supervise all fabrication and welding operations within the workshop

• Manage a team of approx. 30 engineers, fabricators, welders, and operatives

• Plan and coordinate jobs, ensuring targets and deadlines are hit without compromising quality

• Monitor shop floor activity and troubleshoot production bottlenecks

• Enforce strict health & safety and compliance procedures

• Step in with technical input where needed — hands-on leadership is essential

• Support staff development, mentoring junior team members and identifying training needs

• Collaborate with leadership on production strategy and process improvement initiatives

What We’re Looking For in a Fabrication Manager

  • Strong background in steel fabrication, welding, or machining

  • Practical leadership experience in a production or manufacturing setting

  • Working knowledge of CNC, sheet metal, or structural steel processes

  • Ability to manage teams, workloads, and project timelines

  • A confident communicator who can lead from the front and maintain team morale

  • Passion for quality workmanship and continuous improvement

Ideal for someone with:

  • Experience as a Fabrication Manager, Workshop Manager, Production Supervisor, or similar

  • Proven ability to manage people and production simultaneously

  • Strong problem-solving skills and a get-it-done attitude

What’s in It for You?

  • Competitive salary package

  • Opportunity to lead a respected team and take ownership of performance

  • Join a business with low staff turnover and a strong workplace culture
