Finance Assistant

6-Month Fixed-Term Contract | Hybrid | Salisbury
Salary up to £29,000

We are recruiting on behalf of a well-established UK energy infrastructure organisation that is continuing to grow within a fast-moving, sustainability-led environment. This is an excellent opportunity for a Finance Assistant looking to build hands-on experience within a supportive, commercially focused finance team.

The role is offered as a 6-month fixed-term contract, based in Salisbury with hybrid working, and would suit someone at the early stages of their finance career who is keen to develop practical accounting experience within a structured corporate setting.

The Opportunity

You will play a key role in supporting day-to-day finance operations, ensuring financial transactions are processed accurately and on time. The role provides exposure across accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, fixed assets, and month-end support, working closely with both finance and operational stakeholders.

This position offers valuable experience within a business operating critical infrastructure assets and complex billing streams — ideal for someone studying (or planning to study) AAT and looking to strengthen their core finance skillset.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supporting accounts payable and receivable processes, including invoice processing and billing support

  • Assisting with reconciliations across multiple revenue and cost streams

  • Supporting credit control activities and service credit reconciliation

  • Processing employee expenses

  • Assisting with bank postings and reconciliations

  • Maintaining and reconciling the fixed asset register

  • Supporting month-end activities, including journal postings

  • Maintaining accurate financial records and documentation

  • Using Microsoft Dynamics 365 and Excel to input, manage, and analyse financial data

  • Ensuring compliance with internal policies, HMRC requirements, and audit standards

What We’re Looking For

  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths and English

  • A-Levels or equivalent qualification

  • Studying or planning to study AAT

  • Previous experience in an office-based or finance support role

  • Sound understanding of basic accounting principles (DRs & CRs)

  • Strong Excel skills (including VLOOKUPs and pivot tables)

  • High attention to detail and strong organisational skills

  • Confident communicator, able to work collaboratively across teams

  • Proactive, reliable, and keen to learn

Why Apply?

  • Exposure to a commercial, fast-paced finance environment

  • Hybrid working model

  • Supportive team culture with genuine development opportunity

  • Strong experience for early-career finance professionals

  • Opportunity to add recognised infrastructure and energy experience to your CV

This role is ideal for someone looking to build confidence, capability, and credibility within a professional finance function while contributing to a business operating at scale.
