This is hands-on, boots-on-the-ground engineering. As a Heating & Gas Engineer, you’ll be the go-to expert for heating and hot water systems across a large and varied estate. From historic school buildings to state-of-the-art sports facilities, you’ll diagnose, maintain, repair and upgrade systems that keep everything running smoothly.
You’ll be using a tablet to manage tasks through a smart CAFM system — no paperwork, no confusion — and working alongside a wider Estates team that knows the value of skilled trades.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain and repair domestic and commercial heating systems
Conduct routine servicing of boilers, PRVs, and expansion vessels
Ensure all works are completed to Gas Safe standards
Install pipework and systems as part of heating upgrades
Use the CAFM system via tablet to manage and record tasks
Collaborate with the wider Estates team on projects and refurbishments
Uphold health & safety practices in all aspects of the work
Engage with long-term sustainability goals, including heat pump systems and modern controls
What We’re Looking For
ACS Qualified: CCN1, CENWAT & HTR1
City & Guilds or NVQ Level 2/3 in mechanical services or equivalent experience
Gas Safe Registered
Full UK Driving Licence
Strong working knowledge of gas legislation and safety protocols
Experience with varied pipework (iron, copper, lead, plastic)
Familiarity with heating controls, pump technology, and water hygiene
Solid understanding of H&S regulations including COSHH and asbestos awareness
Comfortable using digital systems to log and manage work
